That being said.....
Enough slamming of us Black Friday/Thanksgiving Thursday night shoppers. On Facebook, and Twitter I have seen countless people - from pages I follow to good friends and family members slamming those "insane, selfish, terrible people" out shopping on Thursday night and Friday morning. "I would never scrimp on family time for a deal" or "That is just insane to go out shopping with every other crazy person on Friday. No thank you." just a teeny, tiny sampling of some of the gems I've read recently. To each their own, and I think it is insane that so many stores not only opened Thursday night, but some even had special hours all day Thanksgiving (I'm looking at you K-Mart.) I've seen a lot of people say that people simply shouldn't shop on these days, and the retailers would stop opening earlier and earlier. That's probably true, but what are the chances you're going to get all these people to collectively stop?
Something I find funny is no one seems to complain about the football games being played on Thanksgiving day. Those football players are working (and yes, making millions), but aside from them - those games are run by tons of people. (People working in the stadium, camera crews, coaches, etc.) Also, if you happen to get gas while driving to your Thanksgiving destination there's someone there working at that gas station yet no one complains about it. Running to the grocery store to pick up that last minute thing you forgot? And the movie theaters are ALWAYS open on Thanksgiving! People working there too.
Back to the Black Friday/Thursday night madness. For some people it's just the fun of it. My mom and I have been Black Friday shopping since I was about seven. That's 23 years now.

We've Black Friday shopped (mostly) in our hometown, but up in the mountains when we had to leave at like 4:00 in the morning to drive an hour to the shops, to San Francisco, and more. Back when we first started the stores opened around 6:00am on Friday. I remember when they used to give out goodie bags or freebies. Mervyn's always had awesome freebies! The stores don't do that anymore, because, hey - they've got people camping out for their deals, so why would they? For myself and my mom Black Friday shopping is just as much a tradition as Thanksgiving itself.
To each their own, and whether or not you endured the madness fun of Black Friday/Thursday night shopping I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving!
