AFD Gift Guide: Gifts that Give Back!

5. Krochet Kids hat. These hats are adorable! (I've also seen mittens by this company) and since Nordstrom carries them they're pretty easy to find. The purchase of all Krochet Kids item helps to provide jobs, skills training and mentorship to women in developing countries. Learn more about this great company HERE.

4. Tom's sunglasses. Most everyone knows about Tom's shoes, and knows that when you buy a pair the company donates a pair to a person in need. They've now expanded their line to include some really great sunglasses, and with every pair of sunglasses you buy, the company donates either prescription glasses, sight-saving surgery or medical care to a person in need. LOVE this company, and their one-for-one beliefs.

3. 31 Bits Jewelry.  31 Bits is an awesome company - it was started by Kallie Dovel, who visited Uganda in the summer of 2007. While she was there, she met women making paper beads but who lacked a plan to market and sell them. Kallie brought a box of jewelry back to the U.S., and spent the next year finishing her degree and dreaming up the concept of a development organization. She brought a few friends on board and her ideas quickly evolved into 31 Bits. The girls traveled back to Uganda in August 2008, and selected six women to begin buying jewelry from on a monthly basis. Since then, we have grown to 99 women; each with a unique story of suffering that has been overcome with joy and liberation. Find out more about what they do in Uganda here.

2. Love 146 tee.  Love 146 is such an amazing company, that I had the privelege to learn about at Blog Sugar.  They works toward the abolition of child sex slavery and exploitation through Prevention and Aftercare solutions while contributing to a growing abolition movement. Watch the video at the end of this page and have your tissues ready. Get yourself or someone you love the tee so you can be reminded of their awesome mission, and be inspired to do what you can to help.

1. Charity Water hoodie.  Charity Water is close to my heart. A handful of my blog friends and I started Project 320 as a way to raise funds for Charity Water, and over the last two Christmas seasons with your donations we've raised enough to build three wells for villages in need. (Stay tuned for the third year of Project 320!)  Proceeds of the charity water hoodie go to operating costs, such as our water programs, technologies and flights to the field.

This is just a small list of some really great tangible gifts you can give while still contributing to some wonderful organizations.  Here's another small list of organizations you can donate directly to as well:
Again, this is just a small list. There are so many wonderful charities out there. Which charities do you and your family support? xo!
