Last Friday through Sunday my hubby and I got to escape to Santa Barbara for our six year wedding anniversary. Some alone time was way overdue, and very needed and we both enjoyed every second of it. We adore our girls, but getting to listen to whatever music we wanted to on the iPod, and getting to pee with the bathroom door shut has been sorely missed.
We spent most of Friday taking a leisurely road trip down the beautiful California coast. We made several quick stops - Carmel, Big Sur, Elephant Seal Island....
And then we made a long stop in a cute town called Cambria. We saw big white tents from the freeway and thought it might be a Farmer's Market so we decided to stop.
It sure enough was! Since it was about lunch time we grabbed some carrots, hummus and pita chips and had a snacky lunch. The hummus was amazing - one of the best I'd ever had. We then walked down the main street and checked out some antique shops. After an hour or so we headed back on the road. We stopped in a Danish village called Solvang. It was cute - all of the buildings looked like old Danish buildings - windmills and all - but most everything was closed (and it was early. Boo.) There was a sock store open, though and we each got a pair of socks. Ha!
Our time in Santa Barbara was amazing. We got dinner and drinks out on Friday night, and did some walking around and shopping. Saturday we drove around looking at the mega mansions in Montecito and then went wine tasting in Los Olivos. That was one of our major highlights. We got lunch downtown, and went wine tasting at Bin 2860, Coghlan, Longoria and we ended our tour of Los Olivos with a tasting at Coquelicot and then two full glasses of wine on their gorgeous patio.
Saturday night was dinner and drinks at The Brophy Brothers seafood restaurant on the pier. You can't go to a beach town without seafood. It was great, and after dinner we walked along the pier.
Sunday was our actual anniversary. We got coffee at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (my favorite, unfortunately we don't have any in the Bay Area, with the exception of one in SF) We got breakfast at a cute downtown cafe, hit up another farmer's market, picked up some ornamental peppers and raspberries to snack on. We headed back home. After a few hours we stopped in Pismo Beach for lunch (so fun!) and a few hours after that were home with our girls.
It was an amazing weekend. So nice to get away, but so nice to be back home!

Great day to get married 10/23...if I do say so myself! Looks like we share the same anniversary. It looks like you had an amazing trip! Yay for weekends away with the hubby sans kids. Those are the best and sometimes, I think, the most cherished!
I think 10/23 is a wonderful day to get hitched, if I do say so myself. It looks like we share the same anniversary! How fun did your weekend look...what a way to celebrate! I think, as schedules get busier, time with just the hubby, sans kids, is such a cherished moment. So happy you had an amazing weekend!
