Backyard Camping

Last week we checked off the very last thing on our Summer to-do list....backyard camping.  It's what Leila has been looking forward to most this summer.

We cooked our dinner over an open flame.  Like our classy fire pit?

Coco kept saying "ouch, hot!"

After dinner Leila and Tony set up the tent:

Sugar (my outdoor dog - quite the opposite of Ramon) was excited all night.  She knew something was up, and kept "hugging" Tony.

After the tent was set up we roasted marshmallows for s'mores:

Tony and I kept talking about how big Leila was getting, and how we just couldn't believe how small all of her clothes were looking....then we realized the shirt she was wearing is Gianna's, and a size 12 - 18 months.

After s'mores I went in to put Gianna to bed.  By then it was dark and when I came back outside Leila and Tony were in the tent, reading books with a flash light.  I stayed for a few books, but then said my goodnights.

Since this...
...is how I feel about camping I was happy that someone had to sleep inside with the monitor, listening to Gianna :)  The next morning, after my campers came in I made them pancakes and hot chocolate.  It was a great time for all and definitely a new family tradition!

  4. I love camping. It took years, though. We took Aurora camping when she was 5 months old and now at 3 1/2 she asks to go camping. We are going to camp in Livermore at Del Valle in 2 weeks. Our version of camping is more upscale. We have a portable pantry and I cook crazy things like Beef Burgandy and pineapple upsidedown cake.We also tend to camp in Wine Country. Makes it more bearable.
