Ombre Glitter Nails

So, I am obsessed with the trend of "ombre nails." (Painting your nails five similar colors, graduating from lighter to darker.)

I am also obsessed with glitter.  So, what do I do when both girls are sleeping and the hubby's out playing softball?  Ombre glitter nails, of course.

You will need:
clear base coat
clear top coat
five glitters in the same color family
nail polish remover
q-tips

 
First, give your pinkie nail a generous coat of the clear base coat.  My nails were already painted and I was too lazy to take it off, which is why I did blue glitters.

On your pinkie sprinkle a bunch of your lightest color.  Continue going from lightest to darkest.   Make sure you apply your base coat right before you apply your glitter - it will stick the best this way.

Tap off all of the excess glitter and you'll end up with something like this.  {I put all of the extra glitter into a half a bottle of clear nail polish I had laying around. DIY glitter polish on the cheap.}

Dip a q-tip in nail polish remover and clean up the sides.  Wait about five minutes for all of the glitter to settle on your nails, and then paint on your clear top coat.

Let your nails dry and least fifteen minutes and you'll end up with something like this.  Enjoy your fun, glitter ombre nails and go on with your bad self.
