Something Blue Bridal Shower

On Sunday I threw my very soon to be Sister-in-Law, Dana a "Something Blue" bridal shower.  {I think} it was a huge success, and I had a lot of fun planning it!

It all started with a really cute invitation I found on Etsy, by MommiesInk.  She was kind enough to customize it to exactly how I wanted (changing the font, changing the color of the hair on the bride to red, and changing the background color to blue)

I added some Martha Stewart glitter glue on the earring to add a touch of sparkle:

Outdoor decor was very simple.  A light blue, tulle wreath that I made and hung on the door and a $1 garage sale chalkboard that I painted light blue and wrote "Shower Time" on.  I was planning on wrapping our arbor in the same light blue tulle, but it was pouring so I nixed that idea.

Table settings were where the majority of "something blue" took place.  Light blue tablecloths, light blue napkins, light blue flower cut-outs scattered throughout, white plates, champagne glasses with a light blue ribbon tied around them, place cards written in light blue font with pearl beads, words of wisdom cards I made for each guest, plus the party favor (a See's candy truffle inside a white box, with a light blue ribbon and diamond bead)

The bride-to-be had a special place setting, with a Mr. and Mrs. Nest, made by Dear Jes on Etsy.

Words of Wisdom cards were a piece of chipboard, with holes punches in the sides.  Each guest had one at their place setting and was asked to write some words of wisdom for the couple.  I embellished each piece of chipboard with a stamp, some Martha Stewart glitter glue and antiquing ink.  The pages are going to be turned into a small book.

Hanging decor was fun, thanks to my friend Erin who made and let me borrow her fabric ruffled streamer and hanging turquoise ball.  Martha Stewart gets credit for the glittered "Congratulations" sign.

Food was simple.  Dana has Celiac Disease, so I wanted to make sure it was clear what was and wasn't gluten free.  The signature cocktail was one I made up - "Something Blue" consisted of Malibu Rum, 7-Up, pineapple juice and blue curacao to taste.

The adorable "here comes the bride" banner and tulle hangings were made and loaned to me by Erin.  {Thank you, friend!}

We played a handful of games, including a "bridal scramble", "famous brides" - a matching game where you had to match celebrity brides to their mates, and "Dana's Favorites" where guests had to try their hardest to write down things like Dana's favorite song, drink, actor and more!  It got competitive!

Most gifts were wrapped in shades of blue, which made for fun present-opening.  Leila loved helping.

 Leila and Gianna were in on the something blue theme!  Dresses by Old Navy, headbands by yours truly:

Dessert was particularly fun for me.  Notice the tag line of my blog?  "Follow me, Heather of Angel Face Designs.  Mama, wife, jewelry designer, lover of all things miniature."  Well, since I am a lover of all things miniature, that's exactly what dessert was.  Mini muffins, mini meringues and {Dana's favorite!} an assortment of mini ice creams!

I had so much fun throwing this shower, and would like to give special thanks to my mom for helping me set it all up and Erin for the use of her gorgeous handmade decorations!  I can't believe that the wedding is just a few, short weeks away!

Can you throw me a shower? I am already married and done birthing children. Is there another way that I am not thinking of? Maybe a "36th Birthday Shower" in February? It doesn't even have to be blue. You can pick any color. Thanks.
