Leila's Sweet Shoppe

Leila's birthday parties - that's right we had two in one day were on Sunday and {I think} a big success.  I've been planning on the "Sweet Shoppe" theme for quite a while, after being inspired by a few blogs I've seen.  I knew I wanted a big candy buffet where the kid's could put together their own yummy goody bag and I've been keeping a list of all sorts of {colorful} candies to get.  I had fun making a lot of the decorations, and am hoping Leila will be up for a "Fancy Nancy" party next year, as my mind is already buzzing with ideas ; )

{WARNING: tooooons of pictures!}

Invitations:

created by my friend, Mel:

Decorations:

My husband thought we'd have a ton of leftovers, but we had hardly any! The Razzles and Pop Rocks were the biggest hits with the parents!!

If anyone would like the .pdfs of these signs I made, please let me know. The second sign says: "Leila's Sweet Shoppe Rules: Help yourself to something sweet. One scoop, two scoops and repeat! Cookies, cupcakes, sweet treats galore....please come back again for more!"

Tony rolled his eyes at me when I asked him to make lollipops for the front yard, but he still did!

Candy wreath:

I couldn't find Chinese lanterns anywhere, so I made hanging candies with bouncy balls and cello wrap:

For the fireplace mantel I made some gumdrop topiaries {and found out that I don't like gumdrops}

And on top of the DVD tower, a dum-dum topiary....it weighed about 20 pounds when I was finished and took 241 dum-dums!

Favors:

A lollipop and a toothbrush!  The Tom Kat Studio's "Thanks for being sweet" printables were wrapped around!

Activities:

coloring table:

Sugar cookie "lollipop" decorating:

The Cake:

my super-talented friend, Heather made the Candyland cake...it was even cuter in person!

Little Miss Camden:

....and then just a few hours later we had Leila's family party!  We re-stocked the candy and food, and did it all over again!

This time we had cupcakes using The Tom Kat Studio's printable cupcake toppers:

{and I didn't take a single picture during the family party, but got that one from my mom's camera!}

Like I said, both parties were a lot of fun and I'm grateful that I had so much help from my husband and mom!  Being 35 weeks pregnant and having two parties at home meant me taking a nice, long nap!

And just for fun, here are a couple of pictures of Leila dancing off her sugar high:
