What a great Halloween!

Last night was Halloween of many firsts...Leila's first Halloween, our first Halloween in a house (since being married, anyway) and my first time not dressing up! Last year I was pregnant Britney Spears, year before that I was a she-devil (and we had a devilishly good time in Lahaina, Maui at the festival known as "Mardi gras of the Pacific") the year before that I was a butterfly, and the list goes on and on and on. This year I was just a proud mama of the cutest koala you ever did see:It was also the first year we didn't make Ramon dress up. Last year he was a very unhappy fire hydrant. Since his harness and leash are camo let's say he was a G.I. Joe. Anyways, since it was Halloween we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to introduce ourselves to our new neighbors. Every person we met was really nice, and Ramon even made a few new doggie friends. Leila didn't quite know what to do when people would put a bowl of candy in front of her, but after two or three houses she started diving into the candy bowls!

We had so much fun trick-or-treating with her, and she had a great time too! I didn't want to leave a candy bowl out while we were gone, but I wanted to make sure that we got some kids when we were home, so I put this sign on the door:

The kids definitely came back! By about 7:30 this is all we had left:

And by 8:00 we were completely out of candy, so I grabbed whatever I could - cereal bars, packs of gum...and by 8:15 we were out of that. So, here's what I started handing out:

That's right - Diet Dr. Pepper and Nabisco 100 calorie packs. Our "junk drawer" is completely wiped out. I had a bunch of "Mama Bars" (they're like Pria Bars for pregnant and nursing women, but with extra calcium and folic acid) but my mom said it would be weird to hand those out, so I didn't. I also wanted to put out some of Tony's Tiger's Milk bars, but he very firmly said not to. Boo!

Here is my girl checking out her haul when we got home:
And when she was done inspecting a certain candy she would toss it, and move on to the next - look at the candy mid-air:

We got our last trick-or-treaters around 9:00, and my parent's were jealous of all the kids we had. I'm glad we live in such a kid-friendly neighborhood! We also got a lot of compliments on Tony's spooky pumpkin:

And just for fun, here are my Halloween decorations, and a couple of pictures of the food I made for our Halloween party a couple weeks ago:

Eyeball cupcakes:

Monster Mac'n Cheese (the pasta was Halloween shapes, and I even snuck in one cup of pureed sweet potatoes, a la "Deceptively Delicious!)
Dirt pudding:
Mummy Pizza:

Happy Halloween!!
