Tony was supposed to work mandatory overtime on Thursday, so I made a "little Thanksgiving" on Monday. For an appetizer I made Giada's fried raviolis. They were good, but I used nonfat milk instead of buttermilk and panko bread crumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs so they weren't as good as they could have been - next time I will use the actual ingredients.
For the main course I made a turkey breast, stuffing and garlic mashed potatoes. I know it doesn't look like a lot of food, but since it was just the two of us Tony had a ton of leftovers to take in to the station.
Much to our surprise, however Tony didn't have to work on Thanksgiving day, so he got to play in his annual Thanksgiving Football game, and be with Leila for her first Thanksgiving! We were very thankful for that!
Awww how nice he didn't have to work! That's awesome!! Thanks for the good wishes, btw, for Matt. It is a LONG road to getting hired on with a department (as you know!) but we are hoping this might be the end of our journey and he can finally begin his career (which of course, for me, means BABIES!!). =)
